Robert Redfort

A versatile personality actor, producer, film director, environmentalist, businessman, model, philanthropist, and beginner of Sundance Film Festival. Winner of two Oscars: 1981 for directing Ordinary People, Lifetime Achievement in 2002, well guessed he is Robert Redfort. Versatile Redford born in Santa Monica in California. He did his schooling from Van Nuys High School in Los Angeles, California, in 1954 he did graduation and got scholarship in baseball from University of Colorado. Unfortunately he lost his scholarship due to his habit of heavy drinking due to death of his mother.

Robert Redfort joined theatrical classes to design sets at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. He is a synonym of utmost talent, in real terms he is supposed to be a multi tasker as he handles acting, film direction, model, businessman well list is unending. In television he was on the screen as guest star in various T.V programs like Whispering Smith,The Untouchables, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Perry Mason, Route 66, Dr. Kildare along with that he got an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor in The Voice of Charlie Pont (ABC, 1962). He participated in theatre too, his debut play was Tall Story (1959), the big success was the Park (1963).

Let's have a glimpse of his filmy career, he made his debut with War Hunt (1962), The Sting (1973), for which he was nominated for an Oscar.

The years 1974-76, witnessed his top box offices his block busters were The Great Gatsby (1974), The Great Waldo Pepper (1975) along with Three Days of the Condor (1975), he was most popular star of 70's. In 2004 he stepped into producing with The Motorcycle Diaries . Robert Redfort was also a very successful businessman. Continuing his work in back camera his outcome of direction was An Unfinished Life (2005).

Robert Redfort received so many honours for his outstanding work Redford got an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Bard College in the year 1995, at 74th Academy Awards he was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award/Honorary Oscar in 2002. In 1996 he got National Medal of Arts. Very talented and outstanding performer he was entitled with honours at the Kennedy Center as he contributed lot for American Culture. May 25, 2008 he received Doctor of Fine Arts from Brown University at the 240th Commencement exercises.
