Brad Pitt got his first break in December 1987 in television guest spots, including a recurring role on the CBS primetime soap opera Dallas. Brad Pitt played the role of Randy, the boyfriend of Charlie Wade played by Shalane McCall.
In 1988 Brad Pitt got his first movie role in the movie The Dark Side of the Sun. This movie was shot in Yugoslavia in the summer of 1988, but when it was about to get complete the war broke out and the movie footage suffered a lot of loss. The film was released after nine years in 1997. In 1990, starred in Glory Days, a short-lived television drama.
Brad Pitt then starred in the television movie Too Young to Die?in the role of a drug addict, Billy Canton. Brad Pitt then played the role of Joe Maloney in Across the Tracks opposite Vera Martins. A supporting role in Thelma & Louise gave Brad Pitt a lot of attention. He played the role of a small-time criminal drifter who falls in love with Thelma played by Geena Davis. This movie also made him a :Sex Symbol".
In 1991 Brad Pitt starred in the low budget movie Johnny Suede, along with Catherine Keener and Nick Cave. He played the role of an awkward dreamer who dreamt of becoming a big-haired rock star. Brad Pitt also appeared in Cool World. Then in 1992 he starred in Robert Redford's A River Runs Through It. The very next year Brad Pitt starred with his Too Young to Die? co-star Juliette Lewis in the movie Kalifornia, in which he played a scruffy serial killer. Brad Pitt's performance was considered outstanding and same year, he won a ShoWest Award as "Male Star of Tomorrow".
Brad Pitt's biggest break was his role as vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac in the movie adaptation of Anne Rice's novel Interview with the Vampire. Brad Pitt had to wear a pair of green contact lenses and vampire fangs in addition to the make up to complete the appearance. His performance in this movie earned him two awards at the 1995 MTV Movie Awards in the categories of Best Male Performance and Most Desirable Male.
In 1994 and 1995 Brad Pitt starred in Legends of the Fall and Se7en. In the former movie Brad Pitt starred along with Anthony Hopkins, Julia Ormond, and Aidan Quinn. For his performance in the movie Brad Pitt earned his first Golden Globe Award nomination in the category for Best Performance. In Se7en, Brad Pitt co-starred with Morgan Freeman, as the police detective David Mills. He was appreciated for his performance.
In 1995 Brad Pitt starred in Twelve Monkeys as Jefferey Goines. The movie was successful at the box office and Brad Pitt won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor, and received his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In 1996 he appeared in a supporting role in the movie Sleepers. The film co-starred Kevin Bacon and Robert DeNiro.
In 1997 Brad Pitt appeared as the Irish Republican Army terrorist Rory Devany in The Devil's Own, along with Harrison Ford. That same year, he starred in Jean Jacques Annaud film Seven Years in Tibet in the main role of Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer. He was trained in mountaineering for this role. After the release of this movie the Chinese Government banned Pitt and his co-star Thewlis from entering China for life. In 1998 Brad Pitt did a leading role in the movie, Meet Joe Black. The movie also starred actor Anthony Hopkins.
